Fair Use Policy
Effective date: October 7, 2026
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Shed is for building and running software. Every app on a node shares it with other people's apps, so we don't allow the kind of abuse that degrades the platform for everyone else.
Banned outright
Hosting or distributing any of the following will get your account permanently closed:
- Crypto miners. Mining, or anything that exists to burn compute for cryptocurrency.
- Phishing. Pages or apps that impersonate someone else to collect credentials, payment details, or personal data.
- Card fraud and card testing. Checking stolen card numbers, or any other payment fraud.
- Spam. Unsolicited bulk email, SMS, or other messages, and the infrastructure that sends them.
- Pirated content. Software, media, or other material you don't have the rights holder's permission to distribute.
- Anything illegal. If it breaks the law where you are or where we are, it doesn't run on Shed.
We don't ask you to fix these first. We stop the deployment and close the account, then tell you what we did and why.
Don't abuse the resources
Your apps get CPU, memory, network, and storage to do the work they were built for. Don't use them for anything whose main purpose is to consume those resources. That includes running public proxies or anonymisation services, torrenting, reselling raw compute, generating load against systems you don't own, and working around quotas, rate limits, or suspensions.
If an app starts hurting the node it runs on, we can limit or stop it straight away and explain afterwards.
How this fits with the Terms
This page is a short, plain-language version of the Acceptable Use Policy in our Terms of Service. The Terms list everything that's not allowed and explain how we enforce it, how we tell you, and how you can disagree with a decision. If this page and the Terms ever disagree, the Terms win.
It applies to you, anyone you've given access to your account, and anything acting with your credentials, including coding agents.
Reporting abuse
Seen an app on Shed that breaks these rules? Email support@shed.codes with the URL and what you found.
Not sure whether something's allowed? Ask us before you deploy it.
